Frequently Asked Questions
What is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy is providing therapy through a live confidential and secure video connection, over the internet. I provide the same treatment as I would in person, it’s just done through a computer or device. If you’ve ever used Skype or FaceTime on your iPhone, you’ve used the same type of technology teletherapy uses.
Is Teletherapy Effective?
Yes, and it often gets results faster than traditional in person therapy. It is also a great option for those that might not otherwise seek treatment due to shame, living in rural areas, or physical limitations just to name a few. Its more convenient and affordable than traditional in person therapy.
Will My Insurance Cover Teletherapy?
In Hawaii, I participate with HMSA & TRICARE. In Connecticut, I participate with United/Optum and Medicaid. I do not participate in insurance in GA or SC. Many states, have mandated that insurance pay for telemedicine. There is a lot of advocacy efforts currently happening to increase insurance reimbursement of services. I recommend contacting your insurance before scheduling an appointment to see whether or not you will be covered.
